So whats up with this term Christians? The definition is “Christ-like”, but when you think about that definition it makes me think twice about using that word where i used to. Currently I choose to replace the term “Christian” with “believers” which seems to hit the mark closer to what I actually mean when I use it in daily conversation.

Another important thing about the term Christian is who called who a Christian.

Acts 11:26 26and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.

See, it wasn’t the disciples that called themselves Christians. (like they had some branding meeting where they were like, ok, we’ve got this idea about a marketing campaign…) To me it reads like this; others saw their actions and connected them with the actions of Christ.

Instead of trying to label yourself…just live out your faith, speak the truth of Christ and let others see the connection between you and Christ.

(and no, wearing a cross around your neck… or any other piece of Roman torture device jewelry does not count as living for Christ)
