Would you spy on your child’s cell phone?

mobilebox3d-2There is some new technology out there now that allows you to install monitoring software on a phone. (most commonly used on your child’s phone) With this software you can view the call log, text and picture messages sent from their phone.

This causes me to ask the question…is that something a parent should do? I don’t have any kids yet but wow, what a question. Do you trust your teenager or pre-teen to do the right thing or do you need to monitor their every move.

I can see both sides of this argument. One side says if you use this software then you are not building any trust with your child and you are possibly pushing them toward a rebellion later on. The other side says, it’s better to be safe than sorry and if your child starts getting into trouble you can catch it early.

What do you think?

Here is a link to info about this software.

  1. one, your child shouldn’t have a phone unless you already trust him/her. and then if they start to abuse that trust, there’s still always the actual telephone bill that will show everyone they are texting and calling.

  2. Good point Christy! If having the cell phone was a reward and treated as a privilege for earning trust that would help a lot.

The only difference with using this program versus the cell phone bill is that supposedly with this software you can actually read the txt msgs and see the pictures sent and received.
