You’re feeling left out now…

whybelieveingod

So I found this story in the news today about a group called the American Humanist Association. They are beginning a 40,000 dollar Ad campaign with the theme, “Why believe in God? Be good for goodness sake.” My first thought is…whats so wrong about being good and following God? If they really wanted to make a “God Free” positive message then they could have just said “Be good for goodness sake”. But, they had to put some sort of negative spin agaist Christianity and God for some reason. I dunno, just doesn’t make sense to me. But then I read further down…

The spokesperson for the Humanist Group said this “Our reason for doing it during the holidays is there are an awful lot of agnostics, atheists and other types of non-theists who feel a little alone during the holidays because of its association with traditional religion.”  Well if they feel alone or left out now, they’ve got a big wake up call coming when Christ returns! (I pray they change their minds and hearts before that occurrs)

The stated purpose of this group is to promote ethical action from people believing that there is no God. Which is interesting considered that God created morality and ethics and instills it in each one of us. (Read Mere Christianity from CS Lewis, he really goes into details on this idea)

I dunno, maybe its just me but its funny to see people working so hard to eliminate God but want people to follow the basics of his teachings at the same time. go figure.
