Goody Little Two Shoes

One of the hardest stereotypes to break free from as a Christian is the idea that being a Christian is boring, lame and very uncool. Its a shame but Christians seem to believe that somtimes as well. ( I have definitely been guilty there before) But I have an amazing opportunity to have some incredible people in mind life that remind me that being a Christian is exciting, liberating and much more important than trying to gain the acceptance of men. Its really funny how the world has it so backwards. They believe that becoming an addict of drugs, alcohol, pornography and sin in general is freedom. That sound pretty silly when you just lay it out there like that.

So onto the reason this blog is called “goody little two shoes”. I will not make this a gossip blog so basically a good friend had suddenly quit hanging out with my wife and I and recently a mutual friend shared that the friendship was ended because we were too “goody goody”. I smiled when I heard that. I’m sure it was meant to be a disrespectful and hurtful statement, but how could I be upset that someone thought I was following Christ “too close”. (and I don’t claim to be any kind of super or near perfect follower of Christ, I fail daily)

Persecution will happen. (and I count my encounter its lightest form) It will be tough sometimes. We will not fit it with this culture. They will not understand. They will call us weak, stupid and closed minded. But our relationship with God is more than enough to overcome all that easily.

2 Corinthians 12:10
That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

  1. If you sleep with the dogs you’ll wake up scratching at fleas.

  2. that happened to me too…I had a friend many years ago tell me my husband and I thought we were better than everyone else. The reason you ask? Well, we knew a man that made passes at women in front of his wife and once he even made a pass at me! I was horrified, said it was wrong and told my friend this while in private, she told me we were goody, goody and everyone did it, she acted like we were the “odd man out”…if that’s being odd…well then we’re ODD or should I say PECULIAR PEOPLE!!! LOL!

  3. Drew, one day Jesus will call yours & Candice’s names, then…click, click, click…” You’re not in Texas anymore!!!

So much for “goody, goody two shoes”…how about instead “good news shoes”!!!

Yes, despite what Oprah & others are saying, while it may not be “politically correct” to say there is only “One Way…” & that it is only through Jesus! It most importantly is “biblically correct”!
